Performance = the contract's life-cycle fulfilled — the promise's actual doing (or abstention): the solutio that discharges the obligation (Unit 10's discharge-by-performance). The importance: performance is the contract's purpose — the natural and perfect end of every bargain; the law's rules of offer, acceptance and consideration all exist to make performance happen; the breach (Unit 11) is simply performance's failure, measured against performance's standard. The Code's good-faith performance standard: the duty to perform honestly, to cooperate, to inform — the civil-law signature (Unit 1).
