Discuss (c) the C-family trap

The Incoterms — the ICC's trade terms (the International Commercial Terms, first published 1936, revised periodically; the syllabus's Incoterms 2010, since updated to Incoterms 2020): the standardised shorthand allocating delivery, risk, cost and document duties between buyer and seller. The purposes (four — the marking skeleton): Certainty: the same term = the same meaning worldwide — the disputes' prevention (eleven terms instead of eleven arguments); Practicality: the negotiation's shorthand — the complex allocation pre-agreed in two-three letters; Risk clarity: the passage-of-risk moment fixed — the insurance and claims' anchor; Cost predictability: the price's composition understood (who pays which leg). What the Incoterms do NOT do (the honest limits): they do not transfer property (title passes by the sale contract's own rules); they do not set the payment method; they do not replace the contract's other terms — they allocate delivery, risk and cost only.
