7.4 Rules of Bibliography

The bibliography = the report's classified source list (everything consulted, cited or not — the reader's map of the study's foundations). The rules: The classification (the legal report's standard): the primary sources (the Constitution, the statutes, the rules, the regulations, the cases, the treaties) and the secondary sources (the books, the articles, the reports, the theses, the web sources) — some styles add the tertiary (the interviews, the archives, the datasets); The alphabetical order within each class (the author's surname; the title where no author); The full form — the bibliography's entry fuller than the footnote's (the author's full name, the edition, the publisher, the year); The consistent style — one system throughout (the university's manual), no mixed conventions; The honesty — the listed work actually consulted; the padding bibliography is the reader's (and examiner's) discovered fraud.
