Plagiarism = the words and ideas of another presented as one's own — the research sin. The antidotes: the quotation discipline (the quoted words in quote-marks, the pinpoint citation); the honest paraphrase (the idea credited even in new words — "as Kothari argues..."); the citation's habit (every borrowed authority traced — 7.3); the plagiarism-detection tools (the Turnitin-class software the universities' submissions pass through); and the originality's craft itself (the synthesis and the argument that are one's own). The penalties' reality: the university's codes (the failure, the expulsion) and the profession's mirror (the misconduct discipline — the lawyer's honesty is the licence's condition).
