• Never rely on memory for a provision — always verify the current text. • Never cite a case you have not read — at minimum, read the headnote and the operative paragraph. • Always trace primary from secondary — a commentary points the way; the statute and judgment are the destination. • Record citations immediately — Act, section, year, NKP reference, case number, court, date.
