What are Easton's "demands" and "supports"?

Politics is the activity through which people make, preserve and amend the general rules under which they live — the struggle for power and the organisation of public life. Aristotle called man a political animal (zoon politikon): only in a polis (city-state) does the human capacity for speech and moral judgement reach its fulfilment.
