3 Hurt (Kutpit)

The Code's violence-against-the-body ladder (by principle, graded by consequence and means): 1. Simple hurt — causing bodily pain, disease or infirmity (the slap, the bruise); 2. Grievous hurt — the statutorily enumerated grave injuries: loss/diminution of sight, hearing, a limb or joint; permanent disfigurement; fractures; the life-endangering hurt; the long-lasting incapacity; 3. Aggravations by means and victim: hurt by weapons, by torture, on children/the elderly/ the disabled (the vulnerability gradings), acid and burn attacks (the era's special statutory cruelty — the acid-attack offence's severe grading), hurt in committing other offences; 4. Custodial and domestic overlays: the torture prohibition (Constitution, Article 22; the Compensation Relating to Torture Act 2053's tradition) — the state official's hurt special- criminalized; 5. Kutpit's home in the old Ain — the chapter on assault and hurt (the kutpit-bhag numbering of the Ain tradition, with its own compensation scales) continuing into the Code's unified scheme.
