Nepal is a member and has ratified a number of conventions. Their influence appears in the constitutional guarantee of the right to practise any profession and the prohibition of forced labour; in the Labour Act's provisions on working hours, minimum wage, safety and termination; in the Trade Union Act's protection of the right to organise; and in the prohibition of child labour in hazardous work. Where domestic law falls short of a ratified convention, the convention becomes an argument in litigation and in reform.
