9.1 National Statistics Office

The National Statistics Office (NSO) — the apex statistical authority under the Statistics Act, 2079 framework (succeeding and reorganizing the former Central Bureau of Statistics): 1. The census — the decennial count's conductor (the 2021 twelfth-round pattern continuing). 2. Surveys and studies — the demographic and health surveys, labour-force and living- standards programmes. 3. National accounts and classifications — the economy's and society's standard numbers. 4. System coordination — the "one number, one truth" stewardship across ministries' statistics. 5. The register interface — the census-registration-ID triangle's integrator (Unit 4's future). The NSO is population management's evidence arm: policy without statistics is navigation without stars.
