2.5 Types of Bailment

• By reward: for hire, for reward (carriage, repair) vs. gratuitous (a pure deposit — the law's care gradient, 2.6).• By benefit's direction: for the bailor's benefit only (safe deposit); for the bailee's benefit only (loan-for-use — borrowing a book); for the mutual benefit (hire, repair, pledge, carriage — the commercial core).• By duration basis: for a fixed term, for a purpose's duration, or at will (indefinite — terminable on demand).
