Owner's rights: to the instalments; to retain title until the option's exercise; on the hirer's default, to terminate and repossess per the deed's and the law's course (notice; the cure window; the taking-and-accounting discipline — the harsh-repossession control is the consumer- law face); to recover arrears and damages subject to the returned goods' value being credited (the double-recovery bar). Owner's duties: to deliver the goods with the agreed quality and title-on- completion; to disclose the terms (the total price, the instalment schedule, the option fee); to respect the hirer's equity of redemption within the agreed course (the hirer who cures within the window keeps the goods). Hirer's rights: to possess and use during the term; to terminateearly and return the goods (with liability for arrears and agreed compensation); to exercise theoption and take title; to the consumer protections (disclosure, unfair-terms control; the repossession safeguards); in the common-law tradition, hirers crossing the two-thirds-paid threshold earned statutory shields (UK models — name only). Hirer's duties: to pay the instalments; to take reasonable care (the bailee's standard — Unit 2); not to sell, pledge orcharge the goods (he has no title — nemo dat quod non habet, Unit 7; the innocent-purchaser debate is the device's famous flank); to keep the goods identified and insured as agreed; to return on lawful termination.
