4.2 Preliminary Part/Provisions

1. The short title — "This Act may be cited as the... Act, 20XX."2. The long title — the one-sentence statement of scope ("An Act made to...").3. Preamble (where used) — the recital of the mischief and the object; rare in modern Nepali practice but powerful where the mischief rule of interpretation will be applied.4. Commencement clause — on publication or a named date or by notification.5. Extent clause — the territory reached.6. Definitions section — the vocabulary list: "unless the subject or the context otherwise requires, in this Act —" followed by the definitions.7. Repeal and savings — what old law dies, what survives.
