Jurisdiction currently covers Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur only
Hears complaints on defective goods, substandard services, unfair trade practices, arbitrary pricing and products harmful to health; can award compensation and impose penalties
A three-member body: a District Court judge as chairperson plus two gazetted officers
Appeals go to the concerned High Court within 30 days (Section 45); if the court is dissolved, pending cases transfer to the relevant District Court (Section 47)
