National Law College was established with the guidance and collaboration of the Government of Nepal, the Nepal Bar Association and the Nepal Law Society, with the aim of producing competent and skilled lawyers. It is the first private law college in Nepal affiliated to Tribhuvan University, and one of only three institutions in the country admitted to the TU five-year B.A.LL.B programme.

Eligibility & Admission
For B.A.LL.B: completion of +2 / Higher Secondary or equivalent from a recognised board. Students from CBSE, ISC, IB and other international boards are eligible subject to TU equivalency evaluation. There is no stream requirement – science, management and humanities students may all apply.

Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent with at least D+ grade in all subjects. Entrance examination conducted by the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Law, TU is compulsory for all applicants except foreign nationals.

- Objective questions (MCQ): 30 x 1 = 30 marks, 30 minutes
- Long answer question: 1 x 20 = 20 marks
- Short answer questions: 3 x 10 = 30 marks
- Creative Writing (approx. 300 words) / English Language Test: 1 x 20 = 20 marks

Attendance requirement
80% attendance is compulsory to sit the semester-end examination. Students with 70% attendance may be allowed in cases of serious illness with an authorised medical certificate. Attendance carries marks: 80-85% = 4, 85-90% = 6, 90-95% = 8, 95%+ = 10.
Evaluation: 40% weightage for internal evaluation: internal exam 20 marks, attendance 10 marks, subject teacher's evaluation 10 marks.
Reserved quota seats
20% of total seats per campus are reserved: Women 20%, Indigenous/Janajati 16%, Madhesi 14%, Dalit 9%, Persons with disabilities 9%, Backward/Remote districts 3%, Muslim 7%, Tharu 10%, Other 5%. Backward/remote districts means Mugu, Humla, Jumla, Kalikot, Dolpa, Achham, Bajhang, Bajura and Jajarkot.
